These adjacent blocks are located in Colombia’s prolific oil province of the Middle Magdalena Basin.
The Las Quinchas Association Contract has several heavy oil discoveries in the Lower Tertiary Sands reservoir: Arce, Bukhara and Baul.
In 2007 another heavy oil discovery was made in Las Quinchas. A well on the Acacia Este structure tested 101 bopd. An appraisal well was spudded late-December, 2007.
The Arrinconada, Juanes, Chicala NE and Sardinato structures in the Alhucema E & P Contract are believed to be on-trend with the Tertiary discoveries in the Las Quinchas Block to the south.
Deeper Cretaceous limestone reservoirs are also anticipated in the Morroa and Rio Viejo/La Tolda structures.
